Part 2: Explore more ways to analyze Meta crypto ads with Spytrend.

Spytrend has a dedicated plan for crypto affiliate research: Crypto Affiliate. It covers only investment offers and crypto affiliate offers advertised on Meta, with no other verticals mixed in. Ads are organized by offer type and product. You can see who they impersonate, which sales tactics they use and where they lead behind cloaking. It’s built for anyone working with crypto affiliate programs.

First, a note on the data used here. Our subscribers pay for fresh data, and sharing it in a public article would be unfair to them. So everything below, apart from the trends chart and the counts in the category filter, uses a September sample: 7,599 crypto ads launched in September, with all the analytics available in the plan. Subscribers get the same tools with current data. For scale, Crypto Affiliate contains more than 56,000 ads across its full history, with more than 44,000 new ads coming in each month.

How this crypto ad spy tool builds its database

A typical ad spy tool shows you the creative and the safe page. For crypto, that isn’t enough: the useful details are hidden behind cloaking, including the prelander, the platform itself, the registration form and where users go next.

That’s why we check behind ad cloaking every day, saving the user journey, landing pages and prelanders. AI then looks at what the landing page actually sells, rather than the image in the creative, and assigns the ad a vertical, offer type and product.

Why use the landing page instead of the creative? In crypto, the creative is almost always a disguise. An AI bot is sold through a “live TV scandal,” trading signals through a news story about a minister, and a “government program” through an interview with a TV presenter. If you classify ads by the image alone, crypto gets scattered across a dozen categories. The September sample makes this clear: standard AI classification based on the creative puts these ads in Entertainment and Media (23%), Finance and Banking (16%), followed by Ecommerce, gambling, politics, legal services, fashion and more — 29 categories in total. Crypto Affiliate brings them all into one vertical.

What each crypto ad card shows

Each card has a label such as “Crypto Affiliate · AI bot, automated trading · Rezerva Invest”: vertical, offer type, product. As you scroll the feed, you can identify the offer without opening the landing page.

Inside the card, you’ll find the full path to the offer. Take this ad from September 30: a frame from a Spanish talk show with a fight in the studio, an El Mundo logo at the top and a caption claiming Gonzalo Bernardos “revealed the truth” — with his surname changed to Barnos in the creative:

September Rezerva Invest crypto ads, with an ad card open for a creative impersonating El Mundo
September Rezerva Invest feed, with an ad card open for a creative impersonating El Mundo
  1. The advertiser used limainvesta.com as the link caption, while the actual link goes to horizontacapital.com. These are two domains used by the same page, alternating across its other ads.
  2. Next comes an intermediate redirect with a session parameter.
  3. The third step is the landing page for the Rezerva Invest AI bot, accessible through the “View landing page — cloaking” button.

The entire path is saved, and you can copy every link. EU transparency data shows that the ad targeted Spain and reached 1,615 people, more than half of them (861) over 55. It ran for one day, while the same creative was uploaded 16 times in September. More on that below.

The same card: “Crypto Affiliate · AI bot, automated trading · Rezerva Invest,” landing page download and a three-step path to the offer

The card also includes:

  • Download landing page. If a saved copy is ready, the button opens a screenshot of the page and a download link.
  • View the landing page behind cloaking. The page shown to a user rather than a moderator.
  • Multilingual slide masking. If the advertiser hides the real creative behind decoy slides in other languages to get through Facebook moderation, we put the real creative first.
  • Check behind cloaking and identify the brand. Run a fresh check on an ad whenever you need one: the actual platform page, a full capture and saved copy, plus screenshots of every step. This usually takes 5–10 minutes and costs 100 tokens. If the check fails, the tokens are refunded. Tokens aren’t included in the subscription; you buy them separately in your profile. The smallest package is 1,000 tokens for $19, enough for 10 checks.

Analyze crypto affiliate offers across a filtered selection

This is the main reason to get the plan. Set your filters, click “Selection analytics” and get a breakdown of the entire selection at once. Here’s what it looks like for September.

Selection analytics for 7,599 crypto ads launched in September
Selection analytics: 7,599 crypto ads launched in September

A quick note on percentages. The “Crypto Affiliate — what’s inside” section, covering products, media outlets, celebrities, offer types and tactics, uses all 7,599 September ads as its base. Throughout this article, the figures count ads, not traffic or money. Nobody outside these campaigns can see how much they earned.

Products. See which products account for the largest shares of ads. In September, Rezerva Invest led with 590 ads (7.8%), followed by Seguro Tradex GPT (367), Forti Rendovanz (221) and Tér Dexlink (218). There were 141 products in total, and the leader accounted for less than a tenth of the ads, so crypto was highly fragmented.

Offer types (labeled “Niches” in the interface). AI bots and automated trading accounted for half of September’s crypto ads: 3,882 ads (51%). Next came “Investment platform, type unspecified” (1,547): a landing page is available, but it doesn’t make the offer type clear. These were followed by trading signals and private groups (952) and “government” income programs (910).

Impersonated media outlets and brands (the “Brands” section). Spain’s Antena 3 TV channel (590 ads), Telegram (518), Brazil’s g1 (474), Italy’s la Repubblica (288), Colombia’s El Tiempo and BBC News.

Celebrities used in ads. Crypto differs sharply from nutra here. Across nutra, the same faces appear throughout the market, led by Musk (22%) and Oprah (19%). In crypto, the faces are chosen for each country. The Spanish group consists of economist Gonzalo Bernardos, Bank of Spain governor José Luis Escrivá, Mercadona president Juan Roig and TV presenter Susanna Griso. All four appear in 590 ads, exactly matching Rezerva Invest’s count — one campaign combination. Brazil’s group includes President Lula (468) and Finance Minister Fernando Haddad (396). Argentina’s includes Economy Minister Luis Caputo and TV journalists Jorge Rial and Marcelo Bonelli, with 263 each. Next come Bank of Italy governor Fabio Panetta (251), British financial journalist Martin Lewis (219), and, for Japan, Bank of Japan governor Kazuo Ueda and Masayoshi Son, with 112 each.

Don’t confuse the creative’s language with the country it targets. The Spanish group appears in 590 ads, but when you click Spain, as we’ll cover below, only 376 of those ads are included. The other 214 ran outside Spain. The faces tell you which market the creative was designed for; the country data tells you where it actually ran.

Tactics. Fake news articles appeared in 64% of ads, impersonation of authority figures in 57%, promises of automated income in 56% and fake TV reports in 50%. Fake testimonials appeared in only 35%, although they are one of the main tactics in nutra.

An ad usually uses several tactics at once, so the percentages add up to more than 100%.

Countries. Crypto ads targeted 79 countries in September. Brazil led, appearing in 12% of ads, followed by Spain (9.7%), the United Kingdom (7.2%), Italy (6.9%), Argentina (6.1%), Denmark, Hungary and Turkey. A single ad can run in several countries.

You also get domains, top advertisers and top webmasters. In September, 412 advertisers ran crypto ads, but the webmaster breakdown shows who is behind them: there were 166 webmasters, and the top four accounted for 1,762 ads, almost a quarter of the month’s total. The example ad above was uploaded by Mvivo.Lk, September’s top webmaster.

Explore Meta crypto ads by country

Every row in the analytics is clickable. Click Brazil, for example, and the entire breakdown recalculates for Brazil alone. It’s a useful way to explore a target country, where the picture often looks very different from the overall market.

September Meta crypto ads analytics filtered to Brazil
The same September analytics, filtered to Brazil

Brazil had 945 crypto ads in September, and its market looked very different:

Brazil All crypto ads
“Government” income program offer type 73% (688) 12%
AI bots and automated trading 2.2% (21) 51%
“Fake government program” tactic 81% 24%
“Fake testimonials” tactic 56% 35%

What else the Brazil breakdown shows:

  • Seguro Tradex GPT was the leading product (367 ads, or 39%), while Rezerva Invest, the overall market leader, did not appear in Brazil’s product list.
  • g1 and Lula appeared in roughly every other ad (473 and 468 ads, respectively, or 50% each).
  • The Brazilian selection included 16 webmasters, with the leader accounting for 39%.

The overall figures might lead you to expect AI bots in Brazil, just like everywhere else. Instead, most ads there sold a “government program” in the names of the president and finance minister. If you buy traffic in one country, use that country’s analytics rather than the market average.

Selection analytics shows who leads over a given period. The “Vertical trends” button shows how that changes day by day. It charts the same breakdowns — products, brands, offer types, tactics and celebrities — over 7, 30 or 90 days.

Offer type trends over the last 30 days, with the tooltip on October 13

This chart uses current data: the trends window always runs back 7, 30 or 90 days from today.

The first thing you’ll notice is crypto’s strong weekly pattern. Far fewer new ads launch on weekends, especially Saturdays, than on weekdays. Compare Tuesday with Tuesday rather than Monday with Saturday, or any Monday will look like a surge.

Now look at the spike itself. Hover over a day to see the breakdown. On Tuesday, October 6, 2,837 crypto ads launched, including 1,615 for AI bots. A week later, on Tuesday, October 13, the total was 4,773, including 3,397 for AI bots — 2.1 times as many AI bot ads in a week. They accounted for almost all the increase: the other offer types combined rose from 1,222 to 1,376. The total then fell to 3,611 on Wednesday, 2,447 on Thursday and 2,129 on Friday. A spike like this is a reason to investigate: switch the chart to “Products” to see which products drove the growth.

Use the checkboxes in the legend to select offer types; the tooltip shows only those selected. The bottom of the chart shows the total ad count for 30 days.

Research crypto affiliate offers by ad volume

A common mistake is judging the market from memory. An offer was everywhere a year ago, so you assume it still leads. Or you build a picture of the market from scratch and hope you guessed right.

We suggest starting with what you can observe. Ad volume is the most visible signal from the outside; there are few others. It doesn’t prove profitability, especially in crypto: ads are short-lived, and some repeat uploads replace banned copies rather than represent scaling. Still, when a product runs at volume for weeks, someone is paying for it repeatedly and committing real resources; teams don’t keep buying traffic at a loss for that long. And if an offer everyone remembers is barely being advertised now, it has moved on.

Here’s how to apply that approach to the same September data.

Step 1. Open selection analytics to see which product has the largest share of ads. In September, it was Rezerva Invest, with 590 ads.

Step 2. Click Rezerva Invest directly in the product list. This applies the “Offers: Rezerva Invest” filter and recalculates the analytics for that product. You can immediately see that all 590 Rezerva Invest ads use Antena 3 and the same four Spanish public figures, each appearing in 100% of them. Close the window, and the feed shows only creatives for this product.

Step 3. Select the “Most reuploaded” sort order. This shows which creative has been uploaded the most times.

September Rezerva Invest crypto ad creatives sorted by repeat uploads
September Rezerva Invest creatives sorted by repeat uploads

The top Rezerva Invest creative in September was uploaded 105 times, followed by creatives with 61, 55 and 49 uploads. They all use the same approach: a “live TV scandal” on a Spanish talk show, with a caption claiming that Escrivá or Bernardos “revealed the truth.” Some carry the El Mundo logo, and surnames are often altered in the captions. The ad whose path we examined earlier belongs to the same series; its creative was uploaded 16 times. A creative uploaded more than a hundred times in a month is clearly more than a one-off test. The team keeps committing ad accounts to it, making it a useful place to start your research.

Next, open any card to inspect the path to the offer and the landing page behind cloaking.

This works because the product is identified from the landing page rather than the creative’s image. All these repeat uploads are therefore linked to Rezerva Invest, whatever the creative looks like.

One final point about September: by October 21, 48% of the month’s 7,599 ads had disappeared, and the remaining 52% had stopped. None were still active. Crypto ads burn out fast. Last month’s data can show you how the tool works, but only fresh data shows what’s running now. That’s available inside the subscription.

A workflow for researching Facebook crypto ads

  1. Open “Ads” and select Crypto Affiliate in the categories, or go straight to the offer type you need.
  2. Set the country and date range. Use “New in the last 24 hours” for fresh ads, or a week or month for a broader view.
  3. Click “Selection analytics” to see which products account for the most ads, which media outlets and public figures they impersonate, and which tactics they use. Click your target country to see how it differs from the overall market. In crypto, this step is essential: the differences can be huge.
  4. Open “Vertical trends” to check whether the leading product is growing or fading. Compare weekdays with weekdays.
  5. Click the leading product and select “Most reuploaded.”
  6. Open the card for the most frequently reuploaded creative and inspect the path to the offer and the landing page behind cloaking.
